With an increased focus on security in our schools, we are making an adjustment to how we check volunteers into our building. I wanted to take a moment to describe this small but significant change to our volunteer policy and procedure here at Windridge Elementary.
NEW volunteer policy: We will be communicating with teachers regularly regarding their volunteer schedules (such as: Who will be in their classes and when)
What does this change look like when I arrive to volunteer?
We will check you in, looking at your ID, and logging you into the system as we have always done.
Here is the change-- we will then check the list that our teachers have provided to us to make sure that you are expected at that day and time.
If our teacher has forgotten to provide that list to us, or forgotten to add you to it, don't fret! We will contact them, and make sure they are ready to receive you in the classroom at that time. Once this is done, we will send you to your volunteering destination.
We do ask that when you are here to volunteer that you refrain from wandering to other locations within the school, and instead simply head to your assigned location and task. Once your task is complete, please return to the office to check out. If for some reason you need to go somewhere other than your assigned volunteer location while you are here in the building, please make sure to check in with the office before going anywhere else, so that we can communicate with the teachers or staff members in that area first.
Please know that we love our volunteers. We want you here. We want you to be able to come and volunteer. We simply also need to maintain the safety of all who are present at our great school each and every day.
Please reach out to me if you have specific questions.
Thank you for your understanding and consideration with this change.
