Second graders at Island View, Elementary , and junior high students from Horizon Jr. High teamed up this year to create a MONSTER-ific assignment!
At the beginning of the school year, Horizon Jr. High reached out to the second grade teachers at Island View Elementary, asking if students would like to collaborate with Horizon’s art students to create monsters.
The second graders were to draw and color a monster of their own creation. Horizon Jr. High students would then create a 3-D model of the students’ pictures!
Surely, an endeavor of such “monster” proportions would take all year, right? No! Imagine the second graders excitement and happiness when their monsters showed up on Halloween day!
To say that teachers and second grade students at Island View elementary were impressed would be a monster of an understatement!
Absolutely Amazed, Is more like it!
Horizon Jr. High art students put their all into creating these 3-D monsters! Using modeling clay, pipe, cleaners, googly, eyes, yarn, paper, etc., they were able to create an exact replica of each second grade students monster!
The second grade students and teachers would like to thank Horizon students and art teacher, Tiffany Davila, for this wonderful opportunity and all of their hard work!
