Situated in the northwestern corner of the Davis School District, Island View Elementary stands out for its commitment to innovation and strong sense of community.
“This area has been exploding with growth in the last decade,” said Davis School District Board Member Emily Price. “And now we have this beautiful building where students are going to be able to learn and achieve great things.”
Recently, the school celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and an open house that welcomed students, families and educators.
“I’m really excited to be teaching here,” Fifth grade teacher Jen Purdie said. “Every year you get kids that are excited, and this year is unique because everyone is coming and experiencing something new.”
As the district's latest addition, Island View Elementary is not only dedicated to nurturing young minds but also to leading the way in sustainability. This state-of-the-art facility is energy positive, generating more energy than it consumes, setting a new standard for environmentally conscious education.
“Every space is a lot more inviting; it’s a lot brighter,” said Associate Principal Architect of VCBO Achitects Breanna Bonsavage. “The theme for Island View Elementary is connections; each pod has its own sub-theme: Connect, Unite, Build and Explore.”
Island View Elementary is a building that will provide the opportunity for thousands of children to connect, unite, build and explore for years to come.
